BYRON ART CLUB
For years following the starting of the Byron Elementary school library,
Byron Art Club helped whenever needed. Each time a member or a close
family member died a book was given in the persons name. The
subscription of Ranger Rick is given each year. Byron Art Club gave a
subscription to “The Smithsonian” to the Byron community library. The
club was given a plaque presented by Elementary School Principal George
Eaton. Superintendent Ronald Fencil was present for the presentation.
For years the club has sponsored a girl to go to Girls State and for
many years sponsored someone to go to Hobey Seminar.
Members of the club helped move a pile of stone and junk that had
collected in the Byron Area Sesquicentennial Park. Made a flower bed at
the site and took care of it as long as the members were able.
Different subjects were studied and many speakers spoke at meetings
during the years, exchange students, talks on the Philippines much
enjoyed, respite volunteers, Indonesia talk given by a local missionary,
flower arrangements, gourdes, Durand Depot, Dolls, book reviews,
Michigan was studied and Byron history was the highlight of the past
year 1998-1999.

Conventions. On the 75th year of the club a celebration was held with
other clubs and other interested ladies enjoying a dinner at the Masonic
Temple followed by a a program which told many facts of the club
activities through the years. Birthday cake was served after the
program.
