Mark was the son of Edward and Mary Snyder Boice, born in Addison Township, Oakland County in 1841, one of 13 children. He served in the Civil War. He came to Byron in 1869 and formed a co-partnership with his brother Jacob in blacksmithing until 1885, when the partnership was dissolved. Elizabeth was born in 1852 to Harmon and Catherine Sulaaf Lahring. Harmon had come from Hanover, Germany with his mother and 2 sisters and 3 brothers. Their son Harmon became a medical doctor and practiced in Ann Arbor. They also raised a niece, Nora, who was the daughter of Ben and Nora Whitehead Boice. |
