LAHRING

LEWIS AND SALLY LAHRING

Lewis was the younger brother of Harmon Lahring. Sally was the daughter of Halsey and Nancy Smith Whitehead. The Whitehead’s came from Seneca County, N.Y. in 1831, first locating in West Bloomfield Township, Oakland county. Around 1837 they came to Argentine Township and located on the northeast corner of Seymour and Silver Lake roads. Halsey served in the War of 1812. Lewis settled in the vicinity of Lahring and Bird roads and the road is named after the family. Harmon and his brother Fred settled in Burns Township and through the years the road was misspelled to Lehring. Some of the family also settled in the Holly area. There are both Lahring and Whitehead descendants living in the Byron area.
