Three other children were born to this couple but died in infancy. The family emigrated to America in 1867 from Stockhausen, Sondershausen, Germany. They went first to Livingston County, Illinois until 1883 when they moved to Michigan. Charles, Herman and David lived in Byron. Fred lived here for a time and then went to St. Anne, Illinois and established a tile manufacturing business. Amelia married a Dan Dehner, lived in Menominee and later in Illinois. Residents of Byron who are descendants are; Dean Meier, from Charles; John J. Seaman, Paul Meier, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren of Eleanor Meier Cecil, from Herman. |
