FRANK, ELLA AND EDDIE SHELDON
Frank was the son of Edwin and Lucy Dennis Sheldon. When Frank was about
10 years old he went to live in Washington with his parents as his
father had been appointed an auditor in the treasury department. They
boarded with his grandmother, Mrs. Elizabeth Dennis. Many members of the
Senate also boarded at the Dennis home. Through Senator Grinnell of
Iowa, Frank was appointed a page in the House of Representatives and
there he got a close up view of Abraham Lincoln in the session of
1864-65. He and his mother returned to Byron during the war.
