Unbehaun Farm


Kinder Unbehaun Home on S. Byron Road 1877 Section 25, Purchased 1864 from John Michael
Sciler, 40 acres L to R – Henry Unbehaun, Amelia Unbehaun Alden, John Alden, John Michael
and wife, Mary Sciler, Misses Clara and Mary Schweikert. Rollie Alden on the horse. Guenther
Andrew (Kinder) Unbehaun was born in 1828 in Stockhausen, Germany. He married Mary,
daughter of John Michael and Mary Sciler in 1858. They had 2 children; Henry, who married Clara
Schweikert and Amelia who married John Alden. Clara was the daughter of Joseph and Margaret
Bahnmiller Schweikert. John was the son of Leslie and Almira Badgero Alden. Joe Schweikert
was born in Wurtemburg, Germany and came to America in 1855. He fought and was wounded in
the Civil War. His wife Margaret was also born in Germany, the daughter of John and Mary Lutz
Bahnmiller. Margaret had a brother John who died in the infamous Civil War prison, Andersonville,
in Georgia.

 


Henry, Josephine and Florence Unbehaun

 

 

Left: Henry was the son of Henry and Anna Mary Thumser Unbehaun. He was born in 1857 and died in 1904. He married Josephine “Seffa” Hankey daughter of Lewis and Mary Rigwood Hankey. Florence was their daughter.

 

Alfred and Mildred Unbehaun

 

 

 

Left: Son of Henry and Clara Schweikert Unbehaun. Mildred was born in 1908, daughter of Asa and Jesse Jackson Wittum of Rankin. She  died  April 8th, 1999 and left 4 children, Wilma, Maxine, Dorothy and Robert. Alfred passed away in 1960.
