Elijah Bird Jr.
Elijah Bird Jr., son of Elijah and Margaret Fisher Bird. He
was in CO. A 8th MI Infantry. He enlisted in Corunna for a
period of three years on February 24, 1864, was wounded seven months
later at the
Battle of Petersburg, Virginia. He died 23 days later pf
Pyemia, blood poisoning, after the amputated his foot at the ankle
in Finley hospital at Washington D.C. He was first buried at
Arlington Heights, Virginia and later reburied in the Byron Cemetery
with his mother and siblings on the family lot. |
