What is the
BYRON COMMUNITY SCHOLARSHIP FUND?
In 1991
a group of Byron area community members formed the Byron
Community Scholarship Fund (BCSF). Through the assistance of the
Shiawassee Community Foundation, a non-profit community foundation,
a fund evolved designed to provide scholarships to Byron High School
graduates (both past and current) to assist them in their pursuit of
higher education.
Our group's
goal is to award several scholarships each year for vocational/
trade school students and for college bound students.
Applicants
are judged equally in the following 4 areas:
community involvement
academic history
an essay about future goals
financial need
Because all
scholarships are awarded from the interest the fund generates each
year, awards from the scholarship fund will continue indefinitely.
And because only interest is awarded, every tax deductible dollar
donated to the BCSF will remain in the fund forever.
As of
February 1st, 2007, the BCSF endowment fund balance was $164,126. We would like to be in a position to award
several $750 and $1000 scholarships each year. The Byron Community
Scholarship Fund is comprised of three funds: The BCSF General Fund,
The Duncanson Family Fund and The Chase Bank Fund.
Private
donations and memorial donations may be made in any amount and are
tax deductible. Thank you for your consideration. Donations should
be mailed to:
