Byron-Gaines Angels for a Cure

Relay for Life is the American Cancer Society’s signature fund-raising event. The ACS is a nationwide, community based, voluntary health organization dedicated to Eliminating Cancer as a major health problem by preventing cancer, saving lives and diminishing suffering from cancer, through Research, Education, Advocacy, and Service.

‘Join Our Team!’

The Byron-Gaines Angels for a Cure Team is looking for new members. This is the team’s fifth year, joining together two communities in the fight against cancer.

The Byron-Gaines Angels for a Cure Team participates in the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life Walk. This year’s walk will be held May 18 - 19, at the Shiawassee County Fairgrounds.

Team members can make a difference by collecting pledges, walking at the event, donating items for the team’s silent auction baskets, buying or selling luminary bags.

“We won’t stop until there is a cure!” said Denise Markley of the team. For more information, persons may call Denise, (810) 266-424

Hello Everyone!

As m
ost of you know, I am a member of the Byron-Gaines Angels for a Cure, Relay for Life Team, and I’m asking for your support. This is our teams 6th year participating in the American Cancer Society’s, Shiawassee County Relay for Life.

This year our team has two priorities, raising money and awareness! We cannot just raise money. We must also help people recognize the early warning signs of cancer. Please do what you can to be knowledgeable of cancer. See your doctor for annual physicals. Have the proper tests done as recommended, mammograms done annually for women 40 and over, men need to have an annual PSA blood test starting at 50, and everyone 50 and over should be tested annually for colorectal cancer. Not fun activities, but so very important! These steps can help you save your life.

Please help make a difference in the fight against cancer! At the bottom of this note is the link to my webpage as well as the team’s webpage. Check it out! See why I relay!

Thank you for reading. Stay Healthy!!

Denise (Sholtey) Markley
