Annual Fun Day festivities in Byron will take place on July 11, 2009.  The parade will take place at 2:00 p.m. with Robert Braden acting as the Grand Marshall.   The day will begin with the bike decorating contest at 1:30 p.m. sponsored by the VFW Ladies Auxiliary.  Parade will line up at 1:30 p.m. on Ann Street near the Elementary School.

At the conclusion of the parade around 3:00 p.m. there will be free children games and prizes sponsored by the Byron Park Board, Chamber of Commerce and Burns Grange #160 held in Sesquicentennial Park on West Maple Street until approximately 6:00 p.m.  Some of the contests and games are; hula hoop, water balloon throwing, bubble gum blowing, ice cream eating and various others.  Large inflatables will be available from My Can LLC of Durand, funded by the Park Board and Chamber of Commerce.

There will be food vendors from the area, as well as the Park Board will sponsor their usual concession. The Byron Police Department will handle the distribution of Kids ID kits donated by American Income Life of Michigan Insurance Company.

The conclusion to the day’s festivities will be the fireworks display at dusk, behind the high school, in Eagle Stadium on west Maple Street, sponsored by Byron Fireworks Friends. Volunteers are needed to help all of these community organizations.  Please contact any Park Board or Chamber of Commerce member or call Priscilla Beard at 810-266-4749 or Wanda Coleman at 810-266-6334 if you’re available to help in planning or execution of these events.
