Annual Fun Day festivities in Byron
will take place on July 11, 2009. The parade will take place at
2:00 p.m. with Robert Braden acting as the Grand Marshall. The day
will begin with the bike decorating contest at 1:30 p.m. sponsored
by the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. Parade will line up at 1:30 p.m. on
Ann Street near the Elementary School.
At the conclusion of the parade around
3:00 p.m. there will be free children games and prizes
sponsored by the Byron Park Board, Chamber of Commerce and Burns
Grange #160 held in Sesquicentennial Park on West Maple Street until
approximately 6:00 p.m. Some of the contests and games are; hula
hoop, water balloon throwing, bubble gum blowing, ice cream eating
and various others. Large inflatables will be available from My Can
LLC of Durand, funded by the Park Board and Chamber of Commerce.
There will be food vendors from the
area, as well as the Park Board will sponsor their usual concession.
The Byron Police Department will handle the distribution of Kids ID
kits donated by American Income Life of Michigan Insurance Company.
The conclusion to the day’s festivities
will be the fireworks display at dusk, behind the high school, in
Eagle Stadium on west Maple Street, sponsored by Byron Fireworks
Friends. Volunteers are needed to help all of these community
