The Byron Fireworks Friends have completed another successful
fundraiser. The Annual Benefit Auction was held on Saturday, April
19, 2008 in the High School Cafeteria. David Kelly, an associate
with Narhi Auctioneer Associates, auctioned off 217 items to 65
registered bidders. Tim Narhi and his associates are long time
supporters of Fireworks Friends. He and his wife, Kim, have offered
to work closely with the group to help make next year’s auction even
more exciting and profitable than this year.
We want
to thank our loyal supporters for their generosity again this year.
We had some donations from businesses and local residents that are
new to us and greatly appreciated their contributions. We offered a
variety of items for auction. There was a Jersey bull calf, a picnic
table built by scouts from Troop 88, a Homelite string trimmer, a
huge amount of baked goods including two huge baskets of goodies
from the VFW Auxiliary. Hand crafted items, gift certificates for
such items as spruce trees, restaurant meals, oil changes, pizza,
hanging flower baskets, two-sided signs, and other items too
numerous to list.
The
people and businesses that support our fundraisers and give so
generously are the best. We appreciate all of their support and
know that just saying thank you is really not enough. It is because
of their steadfast support, that we have been able to present the
magnificent fireworks displays of the past and hope to continue to
present into the future. Thanks again for all you do to support the
Byron Fireworks Friends.
The
events scheduled for the group in the next few months include a
concession stand at the annual Memorial Day Parade in Byron on May
26th. The group will also be working with the Durand
Eagles Club during registration at their Car Show scheduled for June
21, 2008 at their location on New Lothrop Road in Durand. Then the
reason for the fundraisers all year, the Fireworks display, it will
be presented in Eagle Stadium behind the High School at dusk on July
5th. The Park Board and other local organizations will
be hosting a Fun Day in the Park during the day prior to the
fireworks. There will more information on the Fun Day as it is
finalized. Finally, our annual Car Show will take place on East
Maple Avenue on September 20th, 2008. Keep an eye out for more
information on all of these up and coming events. |
